Finance and Offerings

A working budget is created by the Session Committees and approved by the Session each year.  The approved budget is presented to the congregation.  The Session prepares a stewardship campaign and church members commit to financially support the budget through their weekly offerings.  In addition, members are asked to pay an annual per capita apportionment to support our Presbytery, Synod, and National Offices.

Our Denomination has four special offerings each year

  •  One Great Hour of Sharing (LENT) The entire amount goes to the Presbyterian Church USA ("PCUSA") and currently is distributed as follows: 36% to Presbyterian Disaster Assistance; 32% to Self-Development of People, and 32% to Presbyterian Hunger Program.
  • Pentecost (May) The local church keeps a percentage, currently 40% to be used for children at risk; 60% goes to the General Assembly and is used for children at risk and for ministries with youth and young adults.
  • Peacemaking (October) We keep a percentage, currently 25% for our peacemaking ministry, 25% is used by the presbytery and synod and 50% goes to the Presbyterian Peacemaking Program of the General Assembly.
  • Christmas Joy (December) The PCUSA distributes 50% to the Board of Pensions and 50% to support Presbyterian-related racial ethic schools and colleges.

Special Offerings for Particular Needs

  • Building Fund - We are in a continuing capital campaign to reduce the balance of our existing mortgage, with our focus being the construction of a new sanctuary and additional space in the future.
  • Pennies from Heaven - Pennies and loose change offerings are collected on a regular basis for local mission needs.
  • Miles of Dimes - Dimes are collected for the church's Building Fund.
